Gathering Grants

Gathering grants provide Michigan nonprofits with up to $2,500 in support of public humanities programming that emphasizes bringing people and communities together to gather and engage. We encourage projects using a variety of public humanities formats, including reflective conversations, reading series, film screenings with discussions, web projects, walking tours, public lectures, and the creation of exhibits.

Notification and Award

Successful applicants will be notified within two weeks of receipt of the application. Following project completion, the final report form must be returned to Michigan Humanities within 30 days. Grant recipients will receive 100-percent of the grant funds upon receipt of a signed grant agreement.

How to Apply

Apply through the Michigan Humanities Online Grant Portal. If you are a new applicant to the Michigan Humanities you will need to create a new registration. If you have previously applied for a different opportunity this year you can log into your portal and go to “Apply” and choose “Gathering Grants”.
