Living Oral History Project

$23,075 • Ann Arbor

Living Oral History: African Americans in Washtenaw County captured oral presentations from specific individuals to document the life and work of African Americans from 1925-1995 in Washtenaw County.  These interviews served as a road map to what African Americans witnessed, experienced, shared, and contributed in building the community as we see today. The new collection will serve as a historical resource for communities in the region for years to come. Funding also allowed the project to be expanded to include an Exhibit based on these stories, helping to share them with a wider audience.
