Ara Topouzian returns to The Hawk this spring with Kef Time: An Evening in Armenia and Middle East. “Kef” means party and Ara Topouzian and bandmates will host a special evening of music, dancing, and entertainment that will take audiences back to Detroit’s famous nightclub culture of the 1950s and 1960s. Many of these nightclubs featured musicians of Armenian, Lebanese, and Greek heritage. They served as a space where culture, music, dance, and history melded into unforgettable evenings of exotic cosmopolitan revelry. Funding for this program was provided by Michigan Humanities – Arts and Humanities Touring Grant.
