Artists Portray Artists: 19th-Century Selections from the Kresge Art Museum

Artists Portray Artists: 19th-Century Selections from the Kresge Art Museum

The selection of 28 portraits of writers, actors, dancers, and self-portraits includes many still familiar to audiences, such as James McNeill Whistler and Rodin, as well as others like Sarah Bernhardt, whose fame was widespread in her day. In etchings, lithographs, and woodcuts, a great variety of artistic approaches to the portrait are on view including realistic images, modestly scaled contour drawings, and Art Nouveau color prints. Security and environmental controls required.
