Rock My Soul: The Black Legacy of Rock and Roll

Rock My Soul: The Black Legacy of Rock and Roll

Rock My Soul . . . a visual arts exhibition tells the story of Rock and Roll and the ongoing influence of Black culture on the music. The 21-piece collection, created by 10 Detroit-based artists, was inspired by Black music: West Africa, spirituals, gospel, blues, jazz, rhythm and blues, funk, and hip-hop. A soundtrack of Black music and a catalogue written by the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, telling the story, accompanies the exhibit.
