Cedar fan carving is an art that started during the lumbering era. It uses the growth ring of the White Cedar which is harvested from local Michigan swamps by Mr. Chingman. Participants age 13 and up are taught to carve and fan a bird from start to finish in this class. The tools used are a jackknife and drawblade both provided by Mr. Chingman. This program is a wonderful opportunity to learn a lost art. Availability Fees Contact |
