Brazil and Beyond

As the 2004 Detroit Music Awards winner in the “Outstanding World Recording” category, Brazil and Beyond plays Brazilian, American pop, and Beatles standards in the classic styles of Brazil on Brazilian instruments. The band has performed at the Ford Detroit International Jazz Festival, the Detroit Symphony–Marshall Field Day at the Max, Detroit’s Festival of the Arts, Macomb Performing Arts Center, on Detroit’s Mitch Albom Show, WDET-FM public radio, and PBS television’s WTVS. Led by prominent metro-area bassist and teacher Rich Kowalewski, the band has done World Beat workshops at Wayne State Music Department lecture series, the Detroit Public Library, and in numerous other educational settings.
