Past
experience: My most recent area of involvement in the humanities has been my work in bringing to Portage, and now coordinating, Portage Northern's International Baccalaureate Diploma Program, an international curriculum for the final two years of high school. The IB Diploma curriculum emphasizes an international viewpoint, diversity, and challenging academic pre-university preparation for juniors and seniors. I was responsible for the application to the IBO which gained us our authorization as an IB Diploma school. Since we began the program in 2000, I have been the program coordinator and a classroom teacher for IB French. In 2004-05, I led a committee of teachers, parents, students, and administrators in the required Five-Year Review, which is a lengthy self-evaluation study submitted for critique to IB North America. I have served as a presenter at Kalamazoo College's Foreign Language Day, an annual workshop for Michigan language teachers. I have taught for 36 years, all in the Portage Public School system, in French, German, and English/Language Arts at both middle school and high school levels.
