Past
experience: I have a weekly radio show about language. It airs
in Traverse City at WTCM, AM-580. I have also had 7 books published.
In the last year alone, I have spoken to over a dozen groups--schools,
senior centers, libraries, Rotary, Red Hat Society, etc. Among other
things, I have developed and conducted spelling bees for senior
citizens. See http://seniors.tcnet.org for a bibliography and brief
bio. Simply click on my name at the bottom of the page.

Suggestions
for public humanities projects: 1.
Spelling bees for senior citizens
2. Talks on language to adult audiences of any
kind:
(A) language history and its effect on grammar
(B) why spelling is such a mess
(C) the humorous side of language
Or a blend of all three set topics, or a presentation according to
the client's specifications. For instance, I have given grammar clinics
to teachers at the request of principals.
