| Past
experience: Direct experience working with K-12 teachers and students
on Native curriculum using cartography. I participated in the American
Indian Civics Program at Humboldt State university for which I designed
map-based curriculum for teaching about Native sovereignty in California.
My academic experience is with Michgian treaty history from my current
research on the survey of reservation treaty boundaries in Michigan.
I also wrote and illustrated a workbook for undergraduates, Exploring
Human Georgraphy with Maps. This workbook introduces the major
topics of human georgraphy with an an emphasis on cultural issues,
using maps as the primary tool of inquiry. My training is as an acadmic
geographer specializing in cartographic design and native map history.
I also bring 15 years of experience in digital cartographic production
of maps for journals, books, and textbooks, working both from freelance
as well as the academic lab ssetting. |
