Past experience: I have been involved in academic research on the archaeology of Native North Americans for 30 years. I teach undergrduate and graduate level courses on this topic as Professor of Anthropology at Western Michigan University. I also conduct archival, library, and field research on Native American history, archaeology, and ethnohistory and I have published my results in over 20 book chapters and scholarly journals including American Antiquity, Southeastern Archaeology, Medcontinental Journal of Archaeology, and the Journal of Social Archaeology. I also direct an archaeological field school for the University, high school, and continuing education adults through the Fort St. Joseph Museum in Niles. I regularly lecture to nonacademic audiences on my research results and have frequently consulted with Native peoples regarding their perspsectives on the past.
