(LANSING)-----The Michigan Humanities Council welcomes Wendi Tilden to its staff as its new Development Director. Tilden’s duties include implementing fundraising strategies to enhance and diversify the Council’s revenue to grow its endowment and build upon its success with additional humanities programs in Michigan communities.
“We’re looking forward to the leadership Wendi brings to the Council as an effective fundraiser, strong communicator, and program administrator,” said Jan Fedewa, executive director of the Michigan Humanities Council.
Tilden brings to the Michigan Humanities Council proven success in nonprofit fundraising. She previously served four years as the Development Director for the Sierra Club’s Michigan Chapter, where she significantly increased the organization’s number of gifts and its revenues from individual donations. Prior to her work at the Sierra Club, Tilden worked as environmental campaign coordinator for the Michigan Environmental Council. While at the Environmental Council, Tilden helped strengthen the statewide campaigns of member organizations and created a collaborative proposal resulting in a $200,000 grant to educate environmental grassroots organizers in anti-racism and cultural diversity awareness. Tilden earned a Master of Arts in English from Kansas State University in 1999, and a Bachelor of Arts in Life Science and English from Kansas State in 1995.
The Michigan Humanities Council, founded in 1974, is a private, non-profit organization, funded in part by the National Endowment for the Humanities. For additional information, please visit: www.michiganhumanities.org or call 517-372-7770.
