(LANSING)----The Michigan Humanities Council and Meijer invite the media and the public to the official announcement of the book selection for the Michigan Humanities Council’s 2009-2010 Great Michigan Read on May 19, 2009, at 1:00 p.m. at the Meijer store on 5533 28th Street SE in Grand Rapids.

Speaking at the announcement will be Judy Rapanos, Chair of the Michigan Humanities Council; Hank  Meijer, Co-Chairman  & CEO of Meijer; and the book’s author.

Governor Jennifer Granholm (invited, currently tentative) will issue an Executive Declaration for May 19 to be “The Great Michigan Read” Day, and offer a few comments about the value of this unique public-private partnership to engage the public in humanities programming.
