$21,373 awarded to help K-12 students attend cultural events across Michigan

(LANSING)-----The Michigan Humanities Council announces 45 grants totaling $21,373 to K-12 schools across Michigan to help pay transportation costs for trips to cultural programs or institutions in this school year. The transportation grants provide support to accredited public or private K-12 schools in Michigan with one grant for up to $500 to attend any Michigan Humanities Council- or Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs-funded museums, galleries, cultural venues, and programs such as music, dance, theatre performances, and cultural/art exhibits.  The popularity of the program was demonstrated when demand far exceeded supply – funds allocated for the grant program for the year were exhausted just 10 business days after the initial announcement on October 5.

Below is a list of the schools awarded transportation grants as well as the date, location, and cultural event students will visit.  The Council notes that schools receiving transportation grants should be contacted to confirm the details of the trip, as they may have changed.
