Farmstead Completion
$15000.00 awarded on 11-15-2009
Major Grants
This grant creates a horsepower/transportation exhibit for the historic White Pine Village. Horse equipage, dairy and milking equipment, milk house artifacts, and milk processing/bottling will all be incorporated into this new exhibit of a mid-twentieth century farm. Particular attention will be placed on the role of the horse on a typical farm in that time period. Various feed options, milk production in cows, and how the Rural Electric Administration is bringing electricity to rural areas changed farming and milking will be presented. The display will consist of signs, pictures, interactive components, and videos to tell the total farmstead story. An open house weekend in October 2010 will showcase the opening of this new exhibit.
