The Traverse City students will create a studio podcast based on an evaluation of Dr. William Beaumont’s famous medical experimentation of a patient on Mackinaw Island. Study will cover the medical career of Dr. Beaumont beginning in 1819 and continuing through his experiments in 1833.

Background materials provided by Mackinac State Park covering the history of the Straits, life at the fort, and a timeline of U.S. and Michigan history will be studied and used for reference. ESL students will create and perform an original radio drama based on this same story. The Traverse City students will be create a podcast to be published in January 2008. The live radio drama will be performed at the IAA on April 28, 2008. Student collaboration will provide them the opportunity to meet and discuss their backgrounds, schools, and share their insights and projects with each other.
