Award: $15,000

The Ann Arbor Book Festival was awarded a $15,000 grant in support of programs for the 2006 Ann Arbor Book Festival from May 10-14. The five-day program includes events with authors, publishers, and the public where books, writing, and literacy, along with the role of the book in contemporary life, will be discussed and explored. This is the third year of the festival. Poetry slams, short story competitions, and storytelling sessions will be held for younger audiences. The festival will explore women in Michigan, Native American influences, and the role of the auto industry in American history and culture.
