Lecture on Wirt C. Rowland by architectural historian Thomas Holleman. 6 pm. Detroit Public Library. www.wirtrowland.org


May 22, 2004 - June 19, 2004
Wirt C. Rowland Exhibition, Clinton Township Public Library, 100 Brown Street, Clinton (Lenawee County). A traveling exhibition will be created to recognize the life, career and influence of Wirt C. Rowland, Michigan architect, and highlight the Penobscot and Guarding Buildings in Detroit, as well as the Kirk in the Hills (Bloomfield Hills), the Jefferson Ave Presbyterian Church (Detroit) and Mortuary Chapel (Clinton). The exhibit will open to the public from May 22 - June 19 at the Clinton Township Public Library. For more information, please visit www.wirtrowland.org.

June 12, there will be a Wirt C. Rowland Symposium including a morning bus tour, slide lecture, panel discussion and dinner. The invitation is open to the public and the cost is $35 for the entire event; the bus tour alone is $25. Registration is due by May 21 -- the public can register at www.wirtrowland.org or by calling Shirley Campbell at 517-456-4716.

The Historical Society of Clinton has been awarded a $16,989 Public Humanities Development Grant for the “Wirt C. Rowland Exhibition.” A traveling exhibition will be created to recognize the life, career and influence of Wirt C.
