Our Stories, Our Lives

Imagine living in a community without creativity, shared values, thoughtful conversation and a reason to celebrate.

Michigan Humanities Council (MHC) is a private non-profit that promotes the humanities within Michigan. We need your help in order to create, fund and support the dynamic programs we present each year throughout the vast geography of our state. Last year, our programs reached more than 4 million people in Michigan. Every investment you make to MHC fosters the ongoing success of these programs and more. Thank you for your tax deductible donation of support!

Planned Giving:

Extend your support of Michigan Humanities Council making a legacy gift.  Your donation will benefit quality cultural programs across the state, and perpetuate the value of humanities for all Michigan citizens.

Donating to MHC in your will, trust, insurance or life income arrangement will contribute to the sustainability and longevity of our institution for generations to come.  We can work with you and your charitable advisor, financial planner or attorney to develop the best gift plan to suit your charitable interests and tax advantages.

What is a planned gift?

A planned gift is a tool of meaningful deferred charitable giving completed after considerable thought on the part of the donor. These gifts can be:

  • Charitable Bequests
  • Charitable Lead Trusts
  • Charitable Giving Annuities
  • Charitable Remainder Trusts
  • Life insurance
  • Real Estate
  • Stock
  • Retirement pension

Why make a planned gift?

Aside from the financial benefits, a planned gift is a profound way to leave legacy or create a memorial for an organization and cause the holds deep meaning for the donor.
